Our fantastic Deafinitely Youth Theatre performed their latest Autumn term production ‘Butterflies’ on Saturday 18th Feb at Oxford House to two sold out audiences of invited friends and family!

This years DYT group have been meeting every two weeks from October 2022 to February 2023, learning new skills and exploring their performance styles before coming together for a week of intensive rehearsals for their show.

‘Butterflies’ is a brand new play, written by 17-year-old Eloise Pennycott from our Deafinitely Youth Theatre alumni. Eloise recently won the National Theatre's New Views annual playwriting competition with her debut play 'Barriers'. This is Eloise's first time writing a show for young people and creating a script with lots of characters!

The production was directed by our Associate Director, and Visual Verncular artist, Brian Duffy, with a full creative team:

Writer– Eloise Pennycott
Director – Brian Duffy
Assistant Director – Dilara Earle
Set & Costume Designer – Paul Burgess
Lighting Designer – Tom Mulliner
Sound Designer – Chris Bartholomew
Choreographer – Chris Fonseca

We would like to thank both Old Diorama Theatre and Young Vic for their in-kind support or space and opportunities throughout this term and to Oxford House for hosting us.
