So, you are studying to become theatre-makers of the future. Deaf Studies have been included in the Hub program to give participants the knowledge of deaf history, theatre and a sense of deaf identity.

Deaf Studies

We’re sorry to share the news that the Hub Deaf Studies course will be postponed until further notice. While we’re disappointed not to be able to run the workshop now, public health of course comes first and we will be providing the course as planned at a later date. We will be in touch directly with those booked to attend

In this short course, led by Peter Brown, you will get an insight into the lives of deaf people in history and how the language of BSL developed. We will also look at the history of deaf theatre and how it evolved over the years. You will learn how best to perform using BSL features like role-shift, facial expression, body movement and mouth pattern. This will help you to understand the language and give you the confidence to perform well.
This course has something for everyone - whether you are a beginner or have some experience.
